May 13, 2020, Toronto ON – Friendly Stranger Holdings Corp (“FSHC” or the “Company”) today announces the opening of its first Toronto cannabis retail location. The Friendly Stranger cannabis shop is located at 501 Church Street in Toronto, Ontario. The location promises to adhere to all recommended social distancing measures while offering curbside pickup and same day delivery*. Customers are invited to avoid wait times by placing orders ahead of time online at friendlystranger.com.
COVID-19 posed many challenges for the FSHC team, including working virtually with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (“AGCO”) to meet the regulatory requirements and pass the pre-opening inspection, obtaining their store authorization on May 12th. This store marks the third Friendly Stranger cannabis shop to open, following their first and second locations conveniently located in London and Burlington earlier this year. Both are currently offering curbside pickup and delivery.
All existing and future Friendly Stranger cannabis stores will share values synonymous with the original Friendly Stranger cannabis accessory store on Toronto’s Queen Street West founded in 1994. With a deep history of community presence and involvement, their dedication to education and drive to eliminate the stigma surrounding cannabis will remain front and center.
FSHC is planning to open two more Friendly Stranger stores in mid to late Spring. Additionally, the Company will open four licensed Happy Dayz™️ locations, as well as a reopening of Kensington Market’s iconic HOTBOX™️ in the coming months.
“We are pleased to deliver on our aggressive expansion plan to become the leading cannabis and cannabis accessory retailer in Ontario” said James Jesty, President of Friendly Stranger Holdings Corp. “We have dedicated staff that are eager to safely serve and educate the community, remaining true to our company’s core mission and values.”
Friendly Stranger has always been committed to supporting initiatives within surrounding communities. As they embark on their newest location in the Village, FSHC extends their commitment of support to LGBTQ2IA+ communities. In celebration of this new chapter, FSHC will be creating a virtual drag event hosted by the first openly gay male professional hockey player, LGBTQ+ activist and co host of This is Sh*t on WOWPresents, Brock McGillis and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 finalist, judge of Canada’s Drag Race and international celebrity drag queen Brooke Lynn Hytes. The show will feature many of the exceptional queens that Toronto has to offer. A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to Gladdaylit, a Church Street charity that supports local LGBTQ writers and artists. Further details to follow shortly.
